Got this newsletter from Qantas. I’m not sure how I feel about the whole Dubai stopover/codeshare arrangement.

Changes to our Asian network
Qantas is making changes to its Asian network from Australia that will generally deliver better timings, particularly to Singapore and Hong Kong, and allow for better connections into Asia. From 31 March 2013, some Qantas flights from Australia to Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok will be re-timed to arrive earlier allowing you to make more ‘same day’ connections across Asia.

Frequency will be adjusted on some routes, with new services provided to Singapore and some reductions on other routes. Flights under this new schedule will go on sale today and are subject to regulatory approvals.

Changes to Qantas codeshare flights
On sale now for travel from 31 March 2013, subject to government and regulatory approvals, we will be partnering with Emirates on a number of flights to the UK, Europe, Asia and North Africa. With this new partnership with Emirates, Qantas will be removing its codeshare from 31 March 2013 on some services currently operated by Cathay Pacific, British Airways, Air France, Iberia and Kenya Airways. Members will be able to travel to destinations throughout Europe, The Middle East and North Africa on Emirates services via Dubai.
Qantas flights to Frankfurt
In October 2012 we announced that we were removing Qantas services to Frankfurt. Effective 15 April 2013, flights to Frankfurt from Australia and Singapore will be via Dubai. This means you will be able to choose from 98 flights per week from Australia direct to Dubai and connect on Emirates from Dubai to Frankfurt. For travel from Singapore to Frankfurt, members will be able to travel on Emirates via Dubai. Qantas operated services via Dubai and Qantas codeshare services operated by Emirates are subject to government and regulatory approvals.
While these changes do include some cancelled services, the aim is to make the Qantas network, with its partners, reach further and be more convenient for our members overall. Stay tuned for more information about the exciting new Emirates partnership.
